There is something about this that feels like the uniform of a private school and my female instincts want me to be IN a crowd of people who match like that. It taps some weird FOMO I have. I think this is so brilliant.
Between the runway and the off-runway platform wedges, it was the ultimate "Chloé's BACK!!!" statement. 10/10 way to make the point and honestly far cleverer than what a lot of other brands would do i.e. drown them in logos (yes this show did have huge logo belts but a chunky 70s-invoking platform - or polished 70s gear - is far more of a Chloé signature than any logo)
I also agree with the comment that says it's a nice change from the now-customary ballet flat/loafer/boot axis even if I find that heel height terrifying.
I liked reading this perspective. It was funny for sure, and a real fashion meme moment, but there was something about it that sat wrongly for me. If I was advising my client for the FR and had advance knowledge about this, I would have insisted that they didn't wear them. Idk, I expect they were all paid handsomely to go along with this, in full knowledge, so it all comes down to $$ and clever marketing to make a shoe an 'it' shoe. And it is very clever! To me, what organically becomes popular is more the moment, but that's just me.
Curious! Why you have told them not to wear it?! I'm still mad at Jerry Hall for wearing the boots!
Also re organically-becomes-popular...I think it is so rare that products are ever truly-truly organic and word-of-mouth...it happens for sure...I always think of paparazzi photos of Lily Rose Depp in, like, Salt Water sandals...I can imagine her popping into a rando orthopedic-friendly store to buy them...but talking about big brand-dom, there's 90 percent of some level of seeding involved. And I really love how Chloe made it all a hehe moment!
Oh are you? Haha, I love Jerry Hall, she looked amazing, but I hear you. I don't know - we are all different and have different viewpoints on this, but for me when I work with clients it's about making their identity totally unique, so it's memorable just for them. So the mass twinning for me would have been an individual brand fail for an individual client. Saying that, they achieved their marketing objectives and gained the press that I'm sure they wanted with this moment. I just think that we've moved away (or should have) from these 'must have' items every season, because ultimately they're of-the-moment trends, and then the trend gets tired and so we have these unworn shoes sitting in a closet for few seasons, being unloved and ultimately may not last longer than the season that they trend for. As a marketing exercise, however, it's a win. But we will have to see if the public buy them and if it translates into sales!
I think this also worked so well because the shoe is different than most of the other boots, ballet flats and loafers. It is such a statement shoe that the repetition helped hammer it home.

We all have to be IN on it...that's key here! We all have to want the piece...! You hit it on the head.

The ‘one woman wearing the caramel thigh-high boots’ was none other than Jerry Hall, the original Chloé girl!
Still think Jerry should have worn the slingback wedge!!! Then again...foot problems so ya never know!
😂😂😂

This is a fabulous explanation thank you. I suspect they’re almost impossible to walk in but they’re very cool.

You can't miss it...beacon on the runway
spot on!! 🌟❣️
Looks like Pat Cleveland next to her and her daughter!
Agreed! I loved this and need some wedges now 🤷🏽♀️
