I've never seen anything of this movie beyond the trailer but I was obsessed with Gwyneth's wardrobe in A Perfect Murder, time to give this a shot too. It's interesting to see how two different movies about rich women cheating on their husbands handle the costume angle!
Also that pump and the leopard slingback side by side are so perfect - once they're actually being worn, they'd basically look the same from the front (same colour, almost the same toe shape, what looks like the same heel height) with the slingback's leopard insole covered entirely by the wearer's foot, you'd have to look behind her to see the skin being revealed and take the shoe off entirely to see the leopard print.

That is a great observation that the slingback and the pump are essentially the same in the front....but that peekaboo leopard print. Dolce does that a lot in their pared-back, classic pieces. I just got a basic gray skirt suit from them (TRR, credit!) and it's prim, proper, and corporate but the lining is leopard print giving it that let-me-bend-over-and-get-that-file-for-you-sir type of bite...
yes, the sneaky/hidden sexiness is very much part of their appeal! Wouldn't show up in a photograph, but the wearer (Connie in the shoes, you with the skirt) knows and that's what makes it special to wear.

I love this movie! it is one of my 3 favorite movies of all time! I love the old Soho of my younger days, before it became a shopping mall of chain stores & influencers taking photos, the cinemetography, the clothes, the story, and the soundtrack. Did you contact Ellen Mirojnick to get the scoop on her costuming? If not, why not try?
I haven't seen this movie (yet) but I may have fast forwarded to the restaurant scene to check out the black top you mention. I believe I have a dupe (if not the actual shirt) - Uniqlo Heattech Scoop Neck Long-Sleeve T-Shirt. I watched a TikTok video from my favorite stylist @lotte.world about how this top is low-key sexy and bought one on Thredup immediately.
