What Ex-Vogue Editors Wore To See Devil Wears Prada 2
The Vogue-gone-Rogue outfit credits and what we learned from working at the mag...also the NYT covered our outing?!

This past week, ex-Vogue and a sprinkling of current Vogue employees went to see The Devil Wears Prada 2 at The Regal Battery Park…a hop, skip, and a way from Vogue HQ at 1 World Trade Center and the other glossy holy grail of the company, the burrito spot El Vez1 popularized by former fashion editor Jorden Bickham.
So how did this Vogue-gone-Rogue thing start? The idea of going to see the movie together was at first casual. In one of my magazine chats, christened “Baenihanas” (we all got sodium poisoning at Benihana one night), former market editor Anny Choi asked if we wanted to see DWP2 and, like, dress up. The response was immediate, and we all agreed we would go on Saturday night in our click-clacky heels.
Still, Anny couldn’t help but wonder…what if we invited more people? “The attitude was the more the merrier, and we encouraged everyone to spread the word,” she later texted me. Anny sent the ticket link for people to buy, and before we knew it, the outing spiraled, and then over 50 people ex-floor-25-ers came, including our collective boss, our brunette mother, the patron saint of weird fab obsessed freaks of Vogue.com, former Vogue creative director Sally Singer. Also in the mix, our fabulous, the perpetually best-dressed, also-my-boss Chioma Nnadi, who is now heading up British Vogue, and writer Lynn Yaeger, whose dollops of blush any fashion fan can spot from a mile away.
As for actually watching the film…we had a blast. Our outfits were wild. The film’s outfits were wild! There’s a really funny/harrowing Coach joke in the film that everyone laughed at. The New York Times covered our fashion bonanza (and sent a photographer!)2 We shared jumbo popcorns. Edward Barsamian arrived with his mother’s Kelly pochette (in croc). We ate (and drank) at El Vez after.
Anyways, I wanted to know what people were wearing as the theme was “interview” or “best outfit”. I also want to know what they learned from Vogue. My mic crapped out during half of it, but here is what people answered! Some of it is video. Some of it is written. Some of it is audio. Either way, enjoy! I love you guys!
